If you are looking for a smaller sized rifle safe, but an 8-gun capacity is just a little too small, a Stack On 10 gun safe might fit the bill. They offer just a little more space, but that extra space might be just what the doctor ordered, especially if you want to leave a little extra room for future additions to your collection.
The GCB-910 Steel Security Cabinet
This Stack On 10 gun cabinet is a very basic design built to offer minimal but adequate protection at a very affordable price. They definitely delivered on that objective. There are no major bells and whistles here, just a solid steel box, solid steel door, and tough lock.
Externally, the Stack On GCB-910 has the simple but classy look that the other All Steel Security Safe series safes have. The “GCB” model features a black finish while the GCG-910 sports the Stack On hunter green. Aside from the finish, all of the other details are exactly the same.
The outside measurements are a height of 53 inches, a width of 17 inches, and a depth of 13.5 inches. It’s actually not that much bigger on the outside than a lot of the 8 gun safes, but it is a little deeper. It’s still compact enough to fit almost anywhere.
The interior gives you 6 cubic feet of storage space with internal dimensions that are only about ½ inch less all around due to the thickness of the sheet metal. That being said however, the longest rifle that will fit inside is 52 inches.
It’s very light, weighing in a shade over 68 pounds, so you will most likely want to take advantage of the pre-drilled mounting holes on the back and bottom, but it won’t be a big problem getting the rifle cabinet in place to do so.
What is Included?
The save comes with a few extras, but it is very simplistic. Of course there is a locking mechanism, which happens to be a key lock. It’s secure, easy to use, and the key itself is double-sided for a little extra protection.
The inside of the cabinet is very bare, but you do get a removable shelf that’s good for some ammo or other extras you want to store, as well as a foam padded bottom and foam covered barrel rests. The manufacturer also includes a 1-year limited warranty.
A Great Place to Start
The GCB-910 and its sister safe the GCG-910 are both very good value buys, as you won’t have lots of luck finding a 10 gun cabinet that falls into this price point. They give you all the basics that you need, without added in unnecessary features that inflate the price. It’s gets the job done; nothing more and nothing less.
The GCDB-924 Double Door Rifle Cabinet
This is a very unique rifle safe. It’s something that you don’t find a lot of in today’s market, and that’s the double-door design. What you get with this very cool design is basically two safes in one.
Measurements and Weight
When discussing the exterior of this long gun safe, though it has two doors, we think of it as one unit. The exterior dimensions are 55 inches high by 32 inches wide by 13.5 inches deep. Because it is two safes in one body, it is quite wide, so make sure you have ample room to place it.
There are two versions of this “924” model, one being the Stack On GCDB-924 with a black gloss finish and the other being the GCDG-924 with a hunter green finish. Besides the paint, there isn’t much in terms of decoration. This is a working class safe that is meant more to do a job than to look pretty, but the simple décor makes it surprisingly attractive.
The interior space is actually split between a valuables safe on the left side and a 10 gun safe on the right. It will comfortably hold any rifles or shotguns that are up to 54 inches in height. The rifle safe portion of this model is very comparable to the GCG-910 as far as storage capacity.

It’s a hefty 128 pounds, so getting into place isn’t impossible without help, but a second pair of hands would help, as it is bulky and awkward. Once you have it placed, it’s easily anchored to the wall or floor, and that will help to both keep it sturdy and to keep a thief or two from dragging out of your home.
How is the lock?
Another great thing about this double-door cabinet safe is that the manufacturer made sure to use to two different locks. Both doors use a similar key lock, but they require separate keys. What that means is that you can share one side with a spouse or sibling while keeping the other only accessible by you.
How is the interior?
As mentioned before, the rifle side of the safe has enough storage space for 10 shotguns or long guns. The bottom comes with foam padding to make sure you don’t scratch your firearms while storing them. There are also molded barrel rests that come with stand-offs, so most rifles, especially those with average sized scopes, should no lean on the back of the safe.
The left side, which is designed for storing other items like ammo, gear, or personal valuables, comes with four removable shelves. They all have their own piece of foam padding that is included as well.
Why get one safe when you get can two? That’s the though process behind this extremely well designed model. It’s great for anyone who wants to store more than just their rifles without having to get a second storage device. The black GCDB-924 and green GCDG-924 are both well built, intelligently designed (they even have pre-drilled holes for mounting a pistol box to the top), and priced to move.Stack-On GCDB-924 10-Gun Double-Door Steel Security Cabinet
The SS-10-MG-C and SS-10-MB-E Security Safes
The two previous reviews focused more on what would be considered rifle cabinets or lockers, but these two models are more representative out what a Stack On 10 gun safe really is. Both of these models have similar features and dimensions, and only differ in color and lock mechanism.
The Standard Specs
The steel exterior measures at a height of 55.1 inches by a width of 15.9 inches and a depth of 12.5 inches. It’s still lean and mean and fits just about anywhere any other rifle safe could.
The interior as a whole offers up close to 6 cubic feet of space, specced at exactly 5.96 by the manufacturer. The internal dimensions measure at 54.8 inches high by 15.6 inches wide by 12 inches deep. While it’s a bit tight, you can squeeze a full 10 rifles into it, but make note that if you plan to store a tactical rifle, it may limit the overall capacity.
While the better construction and locks add a little weight, this is still not a super heavy safe. It weighs only about 141 pounds, so you might want to consider taking advantage of the pre-drilled mounting holes. Mounting it to the wall really beefs up its effectiveness.
What’s the difference between the two models?
As mentioned before, the SS-10-MG-C and its sister safe, the SS-10-MB-E, are virtually identical except for two things. The MG-C comes with Stack-On’s classic hunter green finish but the MB-E comes with a black paint finish. While the coloring is merely a cosmetic difference, the locking mechanism is the more important consideration.
The hunter green SS-10-MG-C comes stock with a 3-number combination dial lock. The lock is backed by a hardened drill-resistant steel plate making it very difficult and time consuming to try and circumvent the lock. Also, since it is manually opened, there is no power source that you need to keep an eye on.
On the other hand, the black matte SS-10-MB-E comes with an electronic keypad lock. It too has the same hardened steel plate baking the lock, but instead of dialing in the combination, you just type it in. This lock does require a power source, which happens to be batteries. Don’t worry though. You cannot get locked out. Stack On will include a set of backup keys that will allow you to gain access should your electronic lock stop functioning.
Both models come with a removable shelf, molded barrel rests, and they are both fully carpeted on the inside. They both look and work great, and they will surely give a burglar enough trouble that most won’t be able to crack in the short timespan that burglaries usually happen in. The locks work great, and choosing which to settle on is simply a matter of personal preference.
All in all, no matter which Stack On 10 gun safe you choose, you will be getting a good deal. They all offer good security and are all CA DOJ approved, so you know you are getting your money’s worth. The most important choice is not which of these models you choose, but that you choose one so that you know you have your firearms locked away responsibly.
